Finest Hour! Out of Time WW2 game.

We had a World War 2 game of Out of Time, which is our new historical version of Spectre Operations - allowing you to play multiple historical periods with the same rules.
The game took place at Michael Perry's house yesterday, using Perry Miniatures great WW2 range.

Early in the North Africa Campaign, a British Platoon has hastily occupied an isolated town in an attempt to halt the German advance. A small LRDG section was tasked with protecting and transporting an Agent when they unexpectedly were caught up in the combat operation.

Me and Alan took control of the British Defenders and Michael took the German attackers.
The British set up a defence the best they could, with the rooftops occupied and a 6pdr covering the main entrance of the town.

Vickers light tanks were tasked with guarding the perimeter.
The Germans formed up in an aggressive assault formation. Taking the first turn, they immediately moved up on the defenders. a Panzer II opened fire on the LRDG stationed on the roof, causing casualties and forcing them to leave their exposed position.
The Sd.Kfz. 222 pushed forwards in an early attempt to remove the 2pdr, but missing its hits.

The British turn saw the 6pdr being rolled forward and take a shot at the German Puma - hitting it directly and causing a K-Kill.

The Vickers light tank opened up on the 222 with its .50 Vickers gun. These high calibre rounds were able to immobilise the 222, but didn't manage to take out its main gun. The fellow Vickers also took a shot with its 2pdr, but unfortunately missed.

A Section in the ruins was able to put some effective fire onto the German squad following behind the now destroyed Puma, taking multiple casualties. The Germans Stress test from the Engagement resulted in them taking cover behind the smouldering wreak.

Michael's took the opportunity to fire with the 222 at the British 2pdr, killing a crewman - resulting in the 6pdr being more difficult to manoeuvre and fire. The infantry in his Force ran to the walls of the buildings in quick order, preparing for an Assault.

The next turn saw exchanges of fire between the British and Germans. The Vickers made multiple glancing hits on the 222, severely weakening its armour.

On Michael's turn, he ordered an all out Assault, with the German infantry charging the 6pdr. Overwatch fire from a nearby British Section did some damage, but couldn't save the gun crew.

The Fallschirmjäger simultaneously assaulted the courtyard, with the wounded LRDG putting up a fight and standing their ground while suffering multiple casualties.
The British moved onto the rooftops to fire down onto the Fallschirmjäger, unfortunately not doing enough damage to cause them to pause their advance.
Michaels last turn saw the surprisingly durable and lethal 222 fire multiple shots and take out the Vickers, causing a K-Kill - leaving this flank exposed.

The Fallschirmjäger proceeded to take an unorthodox method of capturing the Agent but carjacking and kidnapping him - then driving away from the scene.
British resistance quickly melted away, resulting in German victory.
We were very happy with how the game went. Shots were lethal when they hit, but not over powered. The often overlooked light tanks were very fun to play with, able to take on infantry and other light tanks in a way that felt right for the early stages of the war. The 2pdr was predictably lethal too.
The new rules for Bi-pods on stationary MGs made a real difference to accuracy too.
We will have a bigger game as part of the Sicily Campaign soon!
